Students might have noticed there was a change in the C Library Glassroom last week. We made a few changes to make the space even better for students! The librarians rearranged the desks and chairs so it was easier for students to see and listen during storytime, and also to make a fun drawing station for library ASA. Check out some photos below of our library ASA students enjoying our new coloring station.

Remember Mr. DJ from last week? This week he helped us write a special library song! It’s called “The Library Rules and Customs Song” and it sings about how to use the library and make sure students are being respectful of the space, books, and each other. The song and music video will be ready next week, but until then check out these photos from our recording sessions!

Do you know Mother Goose? How about Mother Bruce? In this hilarious story by Ryan T. Higgins, Bruce the bear (not a mother, not a goose) finds himself suddenly taking care of three goslings. Try as he might to get rid of them, the goslings just love him too much! Bruce must accept that he now has an unusual but loving family.

三年级

This week, 3rd grade learned some more of Cece’s story and what it was like for her to adapt to the challenge of being deaf. We started class with a fun test: How Old Are Your Ears? Although this is not the same test that Cece experiences in the book, it helped students see how their ears can change over time. The second activity was a Lip-Reading Challenge. Movies and TV make us believe that deaf people can read lips easily, but it’s actually really hard!

This week we read our first battle scene as Hilo and DJ battle robots from space! At first it seems like Hilo and his friends have lost the fight, until Hilo shows everyone his secret powers!

Olive is feeling even more left out because it seems like all her friends are hanging out without her! Luckily Aunt Molly has some great advice about doing a solo act. Our reading ended with Aunt Molly giving Olive a surprise that will hopefully help her work on her solo act.

Ninth-grade student Cylina Wang shared with us her recently published book I Was Also a Victim…:Anti-Campus Violence Series Manual. She told us she was inspired to write this book because one of her best friends was being bullied and she wanted to take action against it and raise awareness. Thank you Cylina for sharing your work!
