What a crazy week! With Character Day, other fall celebrations, and Parent-Teacher Conferences tomorrow, our students have been busy! Thank you to all the teachers and staff that make this special week possible.

It’s time for the book fair! The book fair will be open today and tomorrow (Nov 2-3) until 5pm. We recommended for students to browse and write down the names and costs of books they would like so that when parents come for Parent-Teacher Conferences on Friday, they can buy the wishlist at that time. There are lots of great books to choose from!

We continued reading books from the Panda Book Award list–this week with Gibberish by Young Vo. This is an emotional story about Dat, a new boy at school who moved across the world and doesn’t know the language the other kids speak. At first he’s afraid and lonely, but when Julie decides to befriend him, he discovers that life can be beautiful and colorful again.

Older primary students returned to our story The Secret of the Jade Bangle by Linda Trinh. Anne has been learning even more about her Grandma Noi’s past as she learns to cook new Vietnamese dishes. Even though she loves cooking, she gets more and more anxious about facing ballet class and dealing with Mrs. Smith, her teacher who keeps saying racist things.
