Younger Primary

Younger primary students learned an important lesson about consent and bodily autonomy this week while reading Rissy No Kissies by Katey Howes. Before we read the story, we discussed what consent means and how to say yes and no when protecting your body. Rissy knows how to protect her space and her body, and it’s important that students know how also. Scroll through the images below to see how students answered the question: “If you don’t want to be touched, what should you say?”

Ms. Claire is Reading

Yes, Ms. Claire is still reading spooky books. The weather is getting colder, and that still seems like spooky season, even though Halloween has passed. This week’s book? A young adult queer horror novel set at a mysterious elite camp. Mars must find out the truth about why his sister went crazy and tried to kill him–but in doing so, he gets himself involved in something much…stickier…than he ever thought possible.
