Welcome back! We hope everyone had a great holiday and was able to spend time resting, having fun, and maybe reading! Although this is a short week, we still have a lot happening in the library.

Today (Friday, Jan 5) is the last day of the book fair! Be sure to check out all the great books and start the new year off right with a goal of reading! Today is also the new date of the Barbie in the Nutcracker movie showing. It will play on loop all afternoon, from 1:00pm-4:30pm so students and parents can stop by to watch after they have finished shopping at the art fair.

Lots of people make a new year’s resolution in January, so Ms. Claire talked about pursuing goals and dreams in the book Something, Someday by Amanda Gorman. In this story, a boy’s neighborhood has a big problem with litter and littering. Instead of ignoring it like everyone else, he decides to clean it and turn it into a beautiful garden. He shows that through hard work, determination, and friends to support you, you can do anything!

Students also wrote down “What is SOMETHING I can do SOMEDAY in 2024?” after reading our story. I hope they all are inspired to chase their dreams and accomplish their goals this year! Here are a few of their answers.

Ms. Claire is currently reading Saving Sorya: Chang and the Sun Bear by Trang Nguyen and Jeet Zdung. This is a Panda Book Award nominee and also a graphic novel! Be sure to take a look at it in the library.
