Even though Love of Reading Week is over, every week is about loving reading in the library!

To complement the Anti-Bullying theme this week, Ms. Ray read the book One by Kathryn Otoshi to teach kids about being brave and standing up for themselves. In this story, Blue is a quiet color and Red is a hothead who likes to pick on Blue. Yellow, Orange, Green, and Purple don’t like what they see, but what can they do? When no one speaks up, things get out of hand — until One comes along and shows all the colors how to stand up and stand together. Ms. Ray concluded story time with an interactive activity where students write on pink hearts some positive behaviors they can do to encourage their friends.

If you’ve had the pleasure of seeing The Princess Diaries movie, you know what a fun, hilarious treat this story is! As a lifelong lover of the movie, I finally decided to start reading the series. It has been such a treat! I’ve loved reading more details of the story I know so well and hearing more of Mia’s thoughts through her diary. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!
