This week, we read a very cute non-fiction book from the “Ocean Life Up Close” series called Sea Otter by Nathan Sommer. This book teaches about sea otters, including their habitat, diet, body structure, life cycle, and more. Students can explore books about other ocean animals in the library under the call number 599.

As part of the students’ writing project, we reviewed the concept of a book’s “call number.” We assigned different tasks to each group, such as searching for books and rearranging the bookshelves. Additionally, Amo from G4-4 recently published his new book, The Super Goose, which you can find in Library C! The entire class attended the launch event and enjoyed reading the book together.

This week G8 started the day with a quick lesson on source evaluation. Using interactive examples and interesting topics, Ms. Claire guided the students in how to ask questions about the sources they find for their upcoming research project. These evalution skills can be applied to any topic, for school or for your own personal research!
