All-Primary Read-Aloud

This week, all of our primary students read Hair Love by Matthew A. Cherry, a story about Zuri and her father navigating the challenges of styling her beautiful, curly hair for a special occasion. Daddy’s love and determination show that small, caring acts can mean the world. We also watched the Oscar-winning short film that inspired the book and discussed moments when we felt loved, such as learning to ride a bike or playing games with our parents. Together, we concluded that love shines through in the little things, and we expressed gratitude for the many thoughtful gestures from our families.

Since it is the week of Thanksgiving, Ms. Ray also recommended some Thanksgiving-themed books for students to learn more about the holiday and appreciate the season of thankfulness.

This week Ms. Claire finished the source evaluation lessons with G8. For any curious minds wondering what that looks like, take a peek at the PDF of the presentation used in the lesson for the last two weeks. We practiced evaluating a very interesting source–an article about the “Poozeum” in Arizona!
