We believe that students should be lifelong learners. Teaching students to be curious encourages them to ask questions and enjoy learning. Curiosity also helps motivate students to try new things, which then in turn helps them become more well-rounded individuals and citizens. Our libraries are full of marvelous adventures, information, and stories just waiting to be opened and appreciated by curious minds.

Reading a variety of books helps students develop empathy and learn to appreciate other ways of life and thinking. By exposing students to all kinds of perspectives and cultures, they can learn to see and experience the world from another point of view. As an international school, our students and staff come from all over the world and all different backgrounds. Reading not only makes us better people, but it helps us make stronger connections with our peers at THISDL.

Practicing curiosity can lead to stronger connections which then in turn cultivates a rich school environment full of emotionally and academically intelligent individuals. Libraries are meant for so much more than class time. They are meant to help students become better people. They are meant to cultivate a strong relationship between a student and their thirst for learning as well as their ability to connect with their peers and their neighbors across the globe. The library is not just a holding place for books. It is an environment that encourages curiosity, strengthens the connection across walks of life, and cultivates a life lived to the fullest.
