As we prepare for the upcoming Love of Reading Week, we reminded students that there are many ways to experience reading. If you think you don’t like reading, you just haven’t found the right book yet!

All-Primary Read-Aloud 全校小学部大声朗读活动
All our primary students, big and small, got to read My Very Favorite Book in the Whole Wide World by Malcolm Mitchell. This warm picture book follows Henley, a boy who dislikes reading. When his teacher asks him to share his favorite book in class, he worries and searches libraries and bookstores in vain. His mom tells him the best stories come from our hearts. Inspired, Henley writes his own story about his journey and shares it bravely. It teaches us everyone has a unique story to tell. Next week’s Book Buzz is just like Henley’s task! We’ll find our favorite books, speak from our hearts, and share our own wonderful reading stories with the class.

On the other side of the spectrum, have you ever destroyed a book in the name of art? Well, this week our high school poetry class did just that! Using a new technique involving old book pages, our students wrote beautiful pieces of blackout poetry. Try it yourself with all old book page or magazine!
