Sports Day has exists for thousands of years! In The Corinthian Girl by Christina Balit, readers learn about the real history of the Heraean Games for women and girls in Ancient Olympia. Once abandoned as a baby, a young girl finds her true calling in training and competing!

How do you choose the right book? Many of our G5 students this week learned this skill, which includes mixing their reading ability, interests, and personal goals. Beyond this, they are also practicing how to take stock of their thoughts while they read so they can get the most out of the content while honing their reading taste.
如何选择一本适合自己的好书？我们五年级的许多同学本周都掌握了这项技能，其中涵盖了综合考量自身的阅读能力、兴趣偏好与个人目标。除此之外，他们还在练习如何在阅读过程中梳理自己的思考，以便在提升阅读品味的同时，从书中汲取最大的收获。

With the upcoming holiday, students will also be working on their holiday reading journal! This journal includes three simple tasks: summarizing a book, making connections, and creating a doodle based on their reading. Students were also introduced to our holiday reading “menu” and learned how to choose books that are both interesting and appropriate for their reading level. Our goal is to help students build a consistent reading habit and continue enjoying books throughout the holiday!

Did you know our library has a specific genre for sports fiction? We call this genre “Action/Adventure,” because in addition to sports stories, this genre also includes survival and superheroes. Look for the yellow genre sticker to find these books!
